PETALING JAYA: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has paid tribute to his counterpart Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for speaking out against India despite risking trade relations with New Delhi. Imran, who spoke about Muslim leaders’ failure in combating the growing Islamophobia, said more Muslim leaders should speak out for oppressed Muslims around the world. “That’s why we love and respect Dr Mahathir so much,” said Imran. Imran described Dr Mahathir as a role model and “a statesman who has changed the destiny of so many people”, saying that he had witnessed Malaysia’s development at the hands of the 94-year-old premier. Imran said the growth of Islamophobia was due to Muslim leaders’ failure in combating anti-Muslim sentiments in the West and explaining the truth about Islam.
