Geo TV reported that the letter included Khan's congratulations to Modi for winning his second term as prime minister. Khan wrote that Pakistan desires all problems to be resolved, including that of the disputed Kashmir region. Khan then added that peace—alongside stability—is required for the countries, as well as the region, to move forward, the report said. Last month, Khan had spoken to Modi over the telephone and congratulated the latter on his victory in the Lok Sabha elections 2019. In a statement, India's Ministry of External Affairs said that Modi thanked Khan and, at the same time, reiterated his suggestion of jointly fighting poverty in the two countries.
