The South Delhi Municipal Corporation's latest diktat for eateries — banning them from "displaying" meat products in their establishments — has left owners as well as diners shocked. Complaining that the SDMC is dictating its terms, "teaching" them how to run their business, they say that the new rule is foolhardy and impractical. The civic body recently passed a resolution, instructing food outlets to not display products like tikkas, kebabs, tandoori chicken as citing hygiene as a factor. This is not the first time that the civic body has discovered non vegetarian items being sold openly and on display as well in kiosks. "I do not agree with any of the reasons given by the civic body.
