THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has advised its supervised financial institutions, such as banks and payment system operators, to implement response plans to protect their employees and customers from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak in the country. “Clear communication protocols covering all relevant internal and external stakeholders should also be implemented,” she added. Fonacier added that advisories and/or guidelines issued by local health authorities, such as the Department of Health, should be considered and strictly followed. First emerging in Wuhan in China’s central Hubei province in December, Covid-19 has spread to more than 100 countries. The World Health Organization declared the Covid-19 spread a pandemic on Thursday.
