But, the ongoing battle for the soul of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State seems to have placed his chequered political career on the cliffhanger. He has also reached out to a few persons he considers could be sympathetic to his travail within the APC national leadership. The protest against him heightened when the team from the APC national headquarters was swapped with that of Anambra State at the last minute without his inkling. The governor and his loyalists shunned the local government congress, which the APC state chairman, Mr Hillari Ekeh, said was hitch-free. The crisis that erupted with the congress (APC) in Imo State chapter of the state, has taken another dimension, which resulted into gang up against the governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha with other top members of the party.
