Immigration officers warn of trade union action

NewsImmigration officers have warned of engaging in trade union action if the government fails to resolve their demands by tomorrow (Oct 4). S. Kanugala, President of the Immigration Officers Union said that the authorities have repeatedly failed to resolve their issues over the past years. The proposed trade union action would see the services of Immigration officers being affected at airports and ports. He claimed that the President's instructions and the Prime Minister's committee appointed to resolve their issues after their trade union action last year, proved futile. The union President said that the management of the Immigration Department should be responsible for any inconveniences faced by the public.
