The three-member probe body led by Joint Secretary of the ministry Amena Begum arranged a meeting at the Kurigram Circuit House on Wednesday and heard Ariful’s recollection of March 14’s incident which led to his arrest and one year of jail term at the DC’s office. The meeting was attended by Rintu Bikash Chakma, executive magistrate and assistant commissioner-- who was the judge of March 14’s mobile court operation that held Ariful guilty-- Jilufa Sultana, additional deputy commissioner. In his statement, Ariful Islam said: “I was tortured, arrested and framed into a criminal offence that night out of personal rivalry. I have full respect towards the nation’s jurisdiction and I know justice will be served irrespective of the defendants’ designation.”Afterwards, asked by the probe body, Rintu Bikash Chakma reportedly supported Ariful’s claim and stated he has no question against his remarks, confirmed the probe body and DC office sources. Later around 1:30am on March 14, Ariful was sent to jail.
