‘Femi AsuResidents of Gateway Estate, Magodo Phase I, in the Isheri area of Lagos, have been left in total darkness after Ikeja Electric Plc cut off power supply to them on Tuesday. Our correspondent gathered that the electricity distribution company cut off supply to the estate on the grounds that some residents were indebted to it. “Majority of the people who are affected are on prepaid meters. Which money do you want me to tell people who are on prepaid meters to bring when you first cut their light off? If you have done that, people will not have your electricity to use if they don’t pay,” he added, stressing the need for the power firm to provide prepaid meters to consumers.
