Politics of Thursday, 15 July 2021Source: classfmonline.comFormer lawmaker Enoch Teye Mensah has said Council of State members need cars to move around in doing their work, adding that if they have to deliver, there must be a cost to it. The government of Ghana, through the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, recently laid before parliament two loan facilities for approval as car loans for Council of State members and MPs. The government will pay 60 per cent of the loan facility for the Council of State members and the MPs. If approved, each MP and Council of State member will receive about $100,000 to buy a car of their choice. The government is seeking approval to secure a $28 million loan facility from the National Investment Bank for the MPs and an additional $3.5 million from the same bank for the Council of State members’ car loans.
