(Associated Press)It appears that, at some point, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will step into a ring. In keeping with his penchant for bravado, McGregor took the opportunity to taunt Mayweather for his “happily retired” line. Their fight would take place under boxing-only rules, and it would be the first such bout of McGregor’s professional career. Which brings us to the bit of history no one wants to see repeat itself: that Mayweather-McGregor, much like Mayweather-Pacquiao, could be a maddening dud. If the hugely experienced Pacquiao, who came into that fight with 38 knockouts, couldn’t come anywhere near Mayweather, what chance does a novice stand?
