Al-Sultan Abdullah was FAM president from 2014 to 2017. "The late Sultan Ahmad Shah and Al-Sultan Abdullah — we worked like family." Other football figures, including former national player Lim Teong Kim and former AFC general-secretary Alex Soosay, have also called for the Al-Sultan Abdullah to lead the association.
