There was good reason for my pessimism of expansion teams landing anywhere in the U.S. Since then, there have been rah-rah moments out of Portland, that were high on rhetoric and sorely lacking substance. Now, talk has resurfaced about league expansion with eight divisions of four, expanded playoffs, regional realignment, and a shorter regular season. Tracy Ringolsby reported in Baseball America that Portland and Montreal are involved, and while his story is short on any specifics, I can report that there is, indeed, a group prepping should MLB begin to seriously pull the trigger.
