The SNP's general election campaign has gotten off to a fairly miserable start. But in the remaining 10, the SNP polled an average of just 25.3% - lower than the Tories, who managed 25.5%. Four of the by-elections took place in the former Labour heartland of Lanarkshire, including the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election. Iin those four seats, the Labour vote increased by almost 16%. There are another two by-elections to come even before July 4, in the Highlands and West Dunbartonshire on June 13.
