Pratish Chandra, president of thetemple committee, said: “After waking up at dawn I went to the temple and saw our sacred idols desecrated. I demand punishment of the responsible through proper investigation.”In this regard, Gobinda Chandra, BPUP’s general secretary, said: “Whoever broke into the temple and vandalized the idols, committed a heinous crime. “I also urge conscious locals to look after and guard the temples from such acts of violence,” he added. Kalihati police station OC Hasan Al Mamun said: “Legal steps will be taken against the miscreants who broke into the temple and vandalized the idols.”
