more-inRAMANATHAPURAMThe Vinayaka idol immersion ceremony passed off peacefully in the district as the Hindu Munnani, Hindu Makkal Katchi and other organisations took out idol processions and immersed the idols in specified waterbodies amid tight police security. The events passed off without any untoward incident, said Superintendent of Police Omprakash Meena, who supervised security arrangements at the headquarters. The police said processions were taken out in Ramanathapuram, Rameswaram, Paramakudi, Erwadi, Devipattinam, Tirupullani, Naripaiyur and Sayalkudi and the idols were immersed at waterbodies specified by the police and the district administration. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh State secretary A. Aadal Arasan and Hindu Munnani leader Ramamurthy inaugurated the procession at Vazhividu Murugan Temple here. Thirty four Vinayaka idols of different sizes were taken in a procession on the route prescribed by the police.
