Results of the autopsy conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s Office on November 21, 2022, indicate that Ms. Jimenez-Hernandez died from asphyxia. The deceased had tattoos, which the Lake Coroner’s Office shared publicly with hope that someone might recognize and would assist in making a positive identification. A Lake County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was assigned to the scene and an immediate search of the area was underway. Authorities initially didn’t specify whether the additional remains were found in woods of the Lake County Forest Preserve District or wood located on private property nearby. The incident was investigated by Libertyville Police Department and the Lake County Coroners office.
