The programme was suspended, then permanently cancelled in May amid a public outcry against the perceived mistreatment of vulnerable guests. Tom McLennan, the show’s executive producer, insisted that it was made clear to viewers and participants that the lie detector tests used on the daytime programme were not 100 per cent accurate.
