“They will be taken to a few places including North Kerala and Bengaluru, where Muhammad Riyas, the key accused had stayed,” said a senior officer with the Ernakulam Rural police. The police have confirmed that Riyas and his mother Seenath are currently staying in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Investigations so far have pointed to the involvement of a network behind the forcible conversion of the woman and arraigned more persons, mostly from North Kerala and Karnataka, as accused in the case. With preliminary investigation pointing to the alleged ISIS links of the accused, the police now expect the National Investigation Agency to take over the case. The woman also alleged that she had been blackmailed into conversion by her husband.
