After issuing veiled threat to Chennai franchise players, Thamizhaga Valvurimai Katchi president T Velmurugan on Monday clarified that his organisation would not cause any harm to cricket players but would democratically stage protest against the IPL matches in Chennai. Velmurugan, who first called for the cancellation of the IPL cricket matches in Chennai in the view of the ongoing Cauvery protests, that they were planning to lay siege to the MA Chidambaram Cricket stadium. Film director Bharathiraja sought for the rescheduling of the IPL matches. The top court, in its ruling in the matter earlier, had reduced Tamil Nadu's share in the Cauvery water to 177.25 thousand million cubic feet. On February 16, the court had ordered the central government to set up the CMB and Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) within six weeks.
