The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating the death of a suspected robber who was shot dead following an armed robbery at a butchery. Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said officers were involved in a high-speed chase when the suspects opened fire on the police. "The suspects were travelling at a high speed on the N2 when they were spotted by police members who gave chase. The suspects shot at the police, who returned fire." Van Wyk added the suspect's vehicle came to a halt at the intersection of N2 and Broadlands.
