ISLAMABAD: In Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), a complete shutdown will be observed on Monday to mark the martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader Muhammad Maqbool Butt, who was hanged by Indian authorities in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984. Call for the strike has been given by Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. Special prayers were held in all main mosques of IOK for martyrs Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru on Sunday. In a statement, he paid tribute to prominent Kashmiri liberation leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, on their martyrdom anniversaries. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq appealed to the international community to take notice of Kashmiri people’s sacrifices and the repression unleashed by India in IOK.
