IMF slashes India’s growth forecast to 6.6% from 7.6%

IMF expects the economy to recover and grow by 7.2% in 2017-18, still slower than the previous estimate of 7.6%. Earlier this month, the World Bank cut the country's growth estimate to 7% for 2016-17 from its previous projection of 7.6%. RBI has also lowered its GDP growth estimate for the current fiscal to 7.1% from 7.6%. The IMF revised upwards China's estimate based on expectations of a stimulus. China is projected to grow by 6.5% in 2017 and 6% in 2018, slower than India's growth in both years.
