IMD warns of heatwave in Maharashtra this summer


Even as Maharashtra is reeling under sweltering heat, the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) summer forecast has hotter days in store for the state along with North India, Central India, Northwest India, Karnataka and parts of the Gangetic plain. The IMD's forecast also stated that there is about a 44% probability that maximum temperatures in the core heatwave zone will be above normal. Amravati, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Wardha, Parbhani and Nanded all recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius on Monday. The maximum temperature was 43.5 degree Celsius. Akola, Brahmapuri, Malegaon, Solapur, Jalgaon, Yavatmal and Pune recorded temperatures of 40 degree Celsius and above.
