IL&FS hostage crisis: Ethiopian staff now insist on 8 months’ salary

“The Indian embassy here is only assuring us that we will stay alive, and that the Ethiopian Ministry has given its word that we won’t be killed. They have no power to free us from this hostage situation,” Chaitanya Hari, one of the stranded employees, told BusinessLine. BusinessLine had reported on December 11 about the Ethiopian employees demanding more monetary benefits, despite IL&FS paying them the salary that was due. The MEA won’t be able to comment further unless there is any new development on this matter, the source added. The other stranded employees are Sukhvinder Singh, Bishnu Nagaraju and Khurram Imam.
