"It's actually a great complement," said Tod Francis, a TaskRabbit board member and Shasta Ventures partner. "A decent percentage of our activity is assembling furniture, in particular IKEA furniture, and moving-related services. IKEA and TaskRabbit already had been working together since November 2016 when IKEA piloted a program to have "taskers" assemble furniture for customers. In addition to assembling furniture, "taskers" were already helping to move items from stores to customers' houses, Francis said. The company had reportedly raised over $35 million from investors including Floodgate, Shasta Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
