IIMC to offer 3-month advanced Sanskrit journalism course


NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication IIMC ) has decided to offer a Sanskrit journalism course.Officials said the decision was taken on Friday at the IIMC Executive Council. The institute will collaborate with Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit Vidyapeeth which falls under the HRD ministry, the officials added.“It will be a three-month advanced course in journalism wherein the Vidyapeeth will take care of Sanskrit teaching,” IIMC director-general KG Suresh said.“It has been our effort to promote Indian languages. We started with making Urdu a full-fledged journalism programme, then Marathi and Malayalam followed. The institute will also have a department of Indian journalism,” he added.Asked about the career prospects for students taking up the course, Suresh said: “We have got the Vaartavali programme in DD. There is a market for people who understand news and Sanskrit.
