— Hearing to be held within 10 daysISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday accepted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s petition to hear his appeal against the Al-Azizia verdict at the earliest date. In a petition submitted in the court on Tuesday, Nawaz pleaded for the suspension of sentence and his release on bail. During the hearing on Wednesday, the IHC directed the Registrar’s Office to set a date for hearing within the next 10 days. The former premier, through his legal counsel Khawaja Haris filed a plea with the IHC seeking to suspend his sentence in the Al-Azizia case in addition to an appeal against the verdict. Further, the anti-graft body has also filed a petition against the verdict in the Flagship Investments reference.
