Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwari on Thursday said the security arrangement around the country due to the verdict in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case would remain in effect as long as necessary. “We put special security measures in place to protect people’s lives and properties. The IGP further said the duration of the heightened security across the country would depend on the situation, and the level of security would be different depending on the districts, upazilas and areas. We have taken strict measures to prevent precisely that today, and will continue to do so as long as necessary. Anyone who even thinks about causing trouble will be dealt with strongly.”Asked about mass arrest, the IGP said police were focusing on targeted arrests.
