By MAGDALENE WANJAMore by this AuthorInternally displaced persons (IDPs) living in Nakuru have vowed not to take part in this year’s General Election if the government fails to compensate them. The IDPs argued that in 2015, the government announced that it had allocated Sh 7.5 billion for compensation of IDPs. “We suspect that the funds have been squandered by some individuals,” Mr Mwai said. Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha, who addressed the IDPs at Nyayo Gardens, said the government had details about the IDPs and no money had been released for them. “The government is still working on the verification of the profiled individuals which shall be used during the compensation,” Mr Nkanatha said.
