An IAS officer from Bihar wants Punjab, Bihar and Jharkhand to trace and settle Rs 900 which was deducted under General Provident Fund (GPF) during her posting in Punjab more than three decades ago. Due to retire on November 30, 1980-batch officer Amita Paul wrote to officials of the three states to sort the issue out so that she can get the money with interest after retirement. Currently posted as Departmental Inquiry Commissioner in Bihar, Paul claimed the amount never reached GPF Directorate Bihar. But, as an honest officer why should I leave any money whatsover,” Paul told The Indian Express from Bihar. Jharkhand Principal Accountant General (Audit) S Ramann said an officer of the department dealing with accountsmight have been corresponded on the issue.
