In a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Efya addressed issues of sexual violence against women, stating that the current legal penalties are not sufficient to deter offenders. She expressed frustration with how rape suspects are often granted bail and returned to society. She called for stricter consequences for those who commit such acts, stating, “I wish that those who commit rape should be castrated.”On the subject of cyberbullying, Efya said she does not engage with online negativity, noting that such comments do not contribute to her financial success or peace of mind. Currently, countries including Pakistan, South Korea, the Czech Republic and Madagascar allow for the castration of rape offenders.
