And I have noticed in general that the graphic novel sections in bookshops have got much bigger. I had been out to Vietnam and started my first graphic novel, The Art of Pho. Initially I spoke to Jonathan Cape about doing a graphic novel, but as it turns out, I just couldn’t find the time, and I felt like I was trying to fit what I had into the format of a graphic novel. I submitted an idea for a longer story and that turned into a graphic novel, The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil. It’s going very well, but we’ve had three children in the interim between my first and second graphic novel, which slows things down.
