MUMBAI: A special trial court judge on Tuesday directed that Indrani Mukerjea , an undertrial prisoner at Byculla women's jail, be produced in court on Wednesday on her lawyer's plea that she was beaten up in jail and threatened with sexual assault for protesting the "the cold blooded murder in custody" of a co inmate in prison last Saturday. Indrani, a prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, is housed at Byculla jail as an undertrial prisoner.Inmates alleged that convicted prisoner Manjula Shetye was brutally assaulted, physically and sexually, and killed on June 23. The preliminary report shows multiple contusions on Shetye, who was warden of barrack number 5, where 51 inmates, including Indrani, are housed. Mangla also said Indrani "was verbally abused by the jail officials and superintendent and was threatened of (sic) sexual assault." Khatri said "other inmates had no other way to protest," but the "Nagpada police are falsely rapping Indrani, others for instigating the protest."
