Lovell appeared annoyed and briefly stepped out of the car, Coney said. After the robbery, Coney called his cellphone and Lovell answered. Lovell responded, “You got God.”Coney reported the robbery to Los Angeles police and told them that he could identify the gunman. It took officers about a week to find Lovell, who was still wearing Coney’s watch when they arrested him. Since the robbery, Coney has earned his master’s degree and is now working on a doctorate in education leadership.
