'I have never been so shocked': Disbelief at tree felling

A Scottish Forestry spokesperson said: “On Thursday February 12, Scottish Forestry received a report of an alleged unauthorised felling in the Dalmally area. At the gate of their home, the Old Military Road becomes a walking track only with no vehicular access. The ancient stone wall of the military road has also been destroyed. Forestry and Land Scotland have told us there are at least 50 ancient trees destroyed and many more with branches ripped off." The Old Military Road was constructed in the mid 1700s and up until the late 1950s was a public single track road between Dalmally and Inveraray.
