The job is Barton's first venture into football management, and will see him take over from John Sheridan, who is temporarily in charge of the League One club. Upon the news being confirmed, Barton said: "I'm very excited by the challenge and the project at Fleetwood Town. "I'm looking forward to getting started on June 2." Barton has a reputation for being a bit of a bad boy, and many are suspecting his venture into football management to be as colourful as his playing career.
