Lawyer Miguna Miguna has dismissed reports that he supported President William Ruto ahead of the August 2022 elections to secure his return to Kenya. He said the idea that he supported Ruto in exchange for returning to his motherland is a “sick joke” and must be rejected. Miguna returned to Kenya on October 20, 2022, after being in exile for over four years. The opposition figure was deported by the government of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta after hotly contested elections in which Miguna supported Raila Odinga. Miguna returned to Kenya on October 20, 2022, shortly after President William Ruto took power on September 13, 2022.
