When I graduated, I knew nursing would be difficult, but I did not understand what difficult truly meant. Instead of asking what changes could prevent something like that from happening again, our manager asked me what I thought. Leadership told me someone, somewhere, was handling it. I moved to a rural county where many families lived off-grid, and I became the only public health nurse for the region. They deserve a health care system that cares for them with the same intensity they give to everyone else.
