I was aware that I had a good job and didn't need to take the first job offer I could get. I told a recruiter, "Chip," that I was currently interviewing with four other firms. I should never have told Chip about the other four companies I was talking to, because he started asking me "Have you heard from Company A? So I had to tell Chip "Well, I'm not talking with Company A or Company B anymore." It's not in a job-seeker's best interest to tell an employer or a recruiter which other firms they're interviewing with.
