Many might think — especially Canadians — that it is precisely the kind of weapon you would want to discourage people from bringing into a tense situation. It seems reasonable that many people hoped the Rittenhouse case would discourage armed confrontations. In many U.S. states you can carry a gun into an explosive situation. Aren’t they also justified in trying to disarm you if they feel threatened by you brandishing a gun at them? Legally, the Rittenhouse verdict makes these situations seem justifiable.
