Hutt Valley ratepayers fork out thousands to councillor's companyBLAKE CRAYTON-BROWN/STUFF Hutt city councillor Leigh Sutton's local papers are billing ratepayers for running political columns. Between May 2016 and July this year, Sutton's publishing companies billed Hutt ratepayers $8000 for printing politicians' columns. SUPPLIED Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace has had his columns in Sutton's papers paid for by ratepayers. Hutt City Council chief executive Tony Stallinger said the council put information in community papers to get information out to communities. The column in Wainuiomata News, published by Wellington Suburban Newspapers, is clearly marked with a Hutt City Council logo.
