Police in Pakistan reportedly arrested the man over accusations he maimed, tortured and beat his wife after he had "verbally divorced" her. The father told police the suspect took his daughter hostage in a room, locked the door, and allegedly used scissors to cut off her tongue. According to her father's account, the victim, was kicked and punched, and the scissors were used to disfigure her hand and face. Pakistan was highlighted for women in the country routinely being blocked from doing paid work or having access to their own finances.
