A new cycleway through the heart of the Hurunui district will give cyclists a safe and scenic link between rural communities. The Hurunui Heartland Cycle Ride will officially open next month, taking cyclists from Leithfield and Amberley through the Hurunui countryside to Kaikōura. SUPPLIED The Heartland Cycle Ride will open to the public in April. "The first stage of the Hurunui Heartland Cycle Ride is from Amberley to the Hurunui Hotel, riding through the high country that is the Waipara Gorge and across the fertile edge of the Amuri Basin. The cycle ride is a product of the Hurunui Trails Trust, endorsed by the NZ Transport Agency and supported by the district council.
