A low-pressure system has caught the eye of the National Hurricane Center. Will this system be the first named storm of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season? NOAA WPCIn that advisory, the National Hurricane Center gave the storm a 30% chance of formation in the next 48 hours, and a 40% chance of formation in the next 5 days. NOAAOne possible outcome is the National Hurricane Center might classify the system as a subtropical cyclone. Hurricane Harvey's deluge mostly came after the storm had been downgraded below hurricane status, and Hurricane Sandy was barely a hurricane at all when it made "landfall" in the Northeast.
