Police were called to the scene outside the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan, Greater Manchester, just before 9pm on Saturday. Officers are now hunting the driver and the car, which was described as a dark in colour, the Manchester Evening News reports. "The pedestrian – a 53 year old woman – sadly died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics and doctors. Sgt Andrew Page, of the Greater Manchester Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, has urged people to come forward if they have information.
