Residents of Morolpara, Karikorpara and Hindupara under Dignagar union demonstrated at Rathkhola from 9am to 12pm halting movement of vehicles. A huge number of people under the poverty line have been hit the hardest during the government announced general holidays. In Rangpur, thousands of slum dwellers shut off the main road in Lalbag rail crossing of the city demanding food relief. In Gaibandha, locals gathered in front of the Sadullapur upazila Nirbahi office and the Gobindaganj municipal office seeking relief assistance. Ward 5 Councillor Shahin Akand alleged that the municipal mayor had been giving away government relief rice to people of his choosing and ignoring the people most in need in his area and seven other wards.
