Hundreds turn up as Mombasa demos enter day two

For a second day running, hundreds of Mombasa residents took to the streets to demonstrate against the high cost of living and the Finance Bill 2024. On Wednesday, the residents engaged the police in running battles along the streets of Mombasa, but on Thursday, the demonstrations were rather peaceful. A handful of anti-riot police officers followed the protestors from a distance as they demonstrated along the streets while chanting anti-government songs. The protestors were joined by rights activists from Muslim for Human Rights (Muhuri). Muslims for Human Rights (Muhuri) Rapid Response Officer, Francis Auma, said they have joined other Kenyans countrywide to protest against Finance Bill.
