Hundreds sign petition to kick male staff out of historic women-only baths

Controversy is brewing at Germany's century-old and only women's swimming pool, over the fact that more men are now working there. More than 700 people have signed an online petition, which calls for the pool to “get rid of the regular male bathing staff” at the Freiburg women’s pool, the Loretto Baths. The Baths were first created as a “gentlemen’s” swimming pool in 1841, and later a women’s section was added in 1886. A small sign now warns that male workers could be present at the pool. “The pool is no longer a women’s pool when men are there,” she told Taz.
