Tour Company Active Adventures passengers got an unplanned adventure when they had to be flown out of Timaru airport over flood waters to Christchurch. Aircraft operators have swooped in to evacuate hundreds of tourists stranded by the weekend floods and slips. Inflite Charters marketing manager Dan Burt said they had relocated aircraft to Franz Josef and were preparing for a major airlift of stranded travellers. It has been a shocker start to the summer season for a tour company forced to charter a light aircraft to evacuate evacuate passengers stranded by weekend floods. Over the next month the tour company has hundreds of customers booked on trips along the West Coat and is re-jigging itineraries to take account of road closures.
