The letter says: “Our frontline workers, like nurses and other NHS staff, have risked – and in far too many cases tragically lost – their lives during this coronavirus pandemic. “Week in, week out, we take to our windows and doors to clap and cheer our frontline workers because, to us, they’re heroes. “I hope Rishi Sunak reads the emails that hundreds of NHS workers, and thousands of those who support them, have taken the time to write to him. Last week No10 tried to play down fears public sector workers would be targeted for a pay freeze to save cash.
